What Do we Do

To ensure the proper recycling of WEEE and help the environment, the contribution of all citizens is essential as they play an important role in addressing environmental challenges. For this reason, it is a right and a duty to recycle properly.

Municipal collection points (also called waste drop-off facilities, collection centres, recycling depots) are enclosed and secure municipal sites where citizens can deliver free of charge in special containers all their Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) which must be recycled separately.

Provides a free collection service for waste associated with electronic products delivered by the consumer according to the ‘One-for-One’ take-back scheme (i.e. when purchasing an equivalent product) and ‘one-for-zero’ (i.e. with no obligation to purchase and valid only for small-sized WEEE).

The recycling of WEEE requires specialized plants capable of separating the various components and safely remove the hazardous substances (e.g. fluorescent powders in TV sets or ozone-depleting substances in refrigerators, such as mercury) before proceeding with the treatment phase. We are talking about actual ‘production lines’ for the recovery of materials: namely selected and certified companies that instead of assembling or transforming raw materials or semi-finished products into finished products, follow the inverse process in order to add value to recycling.

Erion WEEE is the non-profit Producer Responsibility Organisation chosen by the major national and international Producers of EEE (Electrical and Electronic Equipment) to comply in an ethical, certified and cost-effective way with the national legislation on WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). Erion WEEE is part of Erion, a multi-compliance system for the management of all waste from electronic products and for tobacco product waste, with a solid heritage in terms of authoritativeness, efficiency and quality.

The Italian organization to which Producer Responsibility Organisations belong, responsible for the coordination of the collection and management of waste EEE. The main objective of the CdcRAEE is to increase the national collection rate of this type of waste in accordance with the European collection targets.
